Brazil and Norway will be playing tomorrow in one of the biggest games of the 2026 World Cup. 

It is a Round of 16 clash that will decide who will be going into the quarter finals. The loser goes home. Very simple.

At the 1998 World Cup in France, Norway was able to pull one of the biggest upsets of the competition when they scored Brazil 2-1 in the group stage. 

Tore Andre Flo and Kjetil Rekdal were the ones that scored for Norway while Bebeto got one back for Brazil. It was a result that left the entire football world shocked because Brazil were one of the most loved that year.

Before that, the both sides had a friendly match in 1997 where Norway was the winner, winning 4-2 in a result that still marveled everyone as at then.

Brazil have one of the most dangerous players to not joke with on the pitch. Their attackers have been unstoppable at times in this tournament and their midfield has been the one leading the games with ease. Norway will have to be very well disciplined in order to stop them.

Erling Haaland is the man to look out for. He is one of the best strikers in the world right now and he does not need many chances in order to score. 

If Norway is able to give him the ball when he is in a good position, then he is capable of hurting any team which includes Brazil. 

Haaland was not born when Norway beat Brazil in 1998 but he will be very aware of that outstanding result and what that means to his country.

What This Game Means

For Brazil, this World Cup is all about winning a sixth world title. They have not been able to win any since 2002 and the whole country is very desperate to have another one. 

They will also want to ignore another famous upset which is going to be against Norway after what happened in France all those years ago.

For Norway, just getting here is already something unique. But this group of players is hungry for more and they will stop at nothing just to have it. 

A quarter-final place would be Norway’s greatest result in football since that famous night in 1998 when they surprised the whole world.
